A Bit About Me...

boston.jpg

Hi there! I am an engineer who is passionate about the healthcare, exercise, and wellness industries. I enjoy running, hiking, backpacking, cooking, and baking. I recently started road biking, and am warming up to the idea of training for a sprint triathlon. One of my proudest accomplishments is qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2015.

I am currently a Staff Quality Engineer at Stryker Endoscopy, working on a combination of hardware and software products that improve OR workflow efficiencies. I have traveled near and far to some of the best hospital systems in the United States and Canada, learning from all types of surgeons and nurses.  I love getting to know customers, learning first-hand what their user needs are, and delivering improved products that benefit the user and the patient.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have had, that led me to where I am today. I still have so much room to grow, but I want to share what I have learned to encourage others to break through the status quo and create their own paths. I love mentoring engineers, promoting the development of women in STEM, and boosting overall diversity and inclusion in the workplace.

aboutme

Hi there! I am a customer-obsessed technical leader with over 10 years of experience leading product and engineering teams to deliver software and hardware products from concept to launch. With a background in medical device development, I understand the importance of high quality and compliant products.

I am currently a Manager of Product Management at the AI division of Stryker (one of the world's largest medical device companies), applying machine learning to surgical products across specialties to improve patient outcomes and user (surgeon) experiences. Not only do I manage a team of product managers (PM's) to do all the great things PM's do (build portfolio roadmaps, execute, and beyond), but I get my hands dirty in managing products of my own as well. Staying close to the customer and products has always been a key to success in managing individuals!

I am an alumna of Washington University in St. Louis, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. I am currently the Chair of the WashU Young Alumni Network of New York. After a few months of participating in alumni programs, I quickly learned many students and new grads have similar questions about their early careers. Should I go to grad school? How do I break into tech? What kind of engineering jobs are there? With over 10 years of managing, mentoring, and hiring interns and new engineers, I have a lot of lessons learned to share. Thus, I decided to create this website to summarize my advice for greater outreach.

I am grateful for the opportunities I have had that led me to where I am today and enjoy giving back to help young engineers with their early career development.

Prior to my current role, I was an Engineering Manager and (prior to that) a Technical Program Manager, leading software, mechanical, and electrical engineering teams to deliver high quality medical devices from concept to launch. I also served as a Product Owner, traveling to some of the best hospitals in the United States and Canada, learning first-hand from surgeons and nurses in the Operating Room about user needs and translating them into products. I began my career in Quality Engineering, leading cross-functional teams and suppliers to improve complaint rates and product return rates.

In my free time, I enjoy running, hiking, backpacking, cooking, and baking. One of my proudest personal accomplishments is qualifying for and running the Boston Marathon in 2015.
